THE PURPOSE OF THE CAMPAIGN IS SIMPLE:
REUNITE FAMILIES IMPACTED BY MASS INCARCERATION.
Given the need to provide general education and an understanding around the need for sentencing reform, Athletes for Impact and Unite The People launched #REUNITE, a campaign to end mass incarceration by abolishing gang and gun enhancement charges.

DOES NOT MAKE US SAFE
HERE ARE THREE REASONS WHY:
1. SENTENCING ENHANCEMENTS ARE A LEGACY OF A FAILED “TOUGH ON CRIME” ERA.
2. ENHANCEMENT CHARGES ARE EXTRA PENALTIES ADDED ONTO A BASE CHARGE.
3. STUDIES SHOW THAT EACH ADDITIONAL SENTENCE YEAR CAUSES A 4% TO 7% INCREASE IN RECIDIVISM.
WE CALL ON ALL PROSECUTORS AND ELECTED OFFICIALS TO STOP THE USE OF GANG AND GUN ENHANCEMENTS THAT DO NOT KEEP US SAFE OR PREVENT CRIME.
